Obituary
With great sadness, the family of the late Warren Gogol announce his passing at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on January 11, 2024, at the age of 69 years.
Warren was born on August 1, 1954, to Paul and Wilma (nee Woloshyn) Gogol at Canora, SK. He attended school in Canora, and went on to further his education in Saskatoon, SK, where received his Diploma of Agriculture through the University of Saskatchewan.
On March 8, 1984, Warren was united in marriage to the love of his life, Linda Lisecki, and together they were blessed with a daughter, Marlee.
Over the years, Warren worked several jobs in trades at varied locations including Flin Flon, MB, Calgary, AB, and Vancouver, BC, however, Canora was where he called home. He devoted over 50 years of his life to farming. In addition to this, for 16 years, he dedicated his time as the ice technician for the skating and curling rinks in Canora. His incredible ice making skills and passion for curling led him to the opportunity to assist in making and maintaining the ice for several bonspiels and tournaments, including the 1998 Scott Tournament of Hearts.
Aside from curling, Warren enjoyed time spent snowmobiling, gardening, fishing, boating, and being out at the lake. He took great pleasure in blowing snow for his neighbours, fixing everything from tractors to golf carts, and tackling home projects. He especially enjoyed visiting his daughter and her family in Edmonton, most of all. Warren was a proud father to Marlee and the best grandfather to Julia. He considered her arrival as one of the greatest moments in his life.
Warren will be remembered as a generous, compassionate man who made friends easily. He loved his family, friends, and neighbours and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Warren was a great man, husband, and father. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Warren was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Wilma. He is survived by his wife, Linda Gogol; daughter, Marlee (Eric) Mitskopoulos; grand-daughter, Julia; and his brother, Hartley (Beverly) Gogol; and many friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Pastor Greg Bright officiating. Interment will follow in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to S.T.A.R.S.
