Obituary
With great sadness, the family of the late Myles Swiderski announce his passing at the Regina General Hospital on January 8, 2024, at the age of 66 years.
Myles was born to Joseph and Jean (nee Bosovich) Swiderski at the Invermay Hospital on December 4, 1957. He was the youngest of the Swiderski boys and was the baby brother to Fred, Eugene, and Dennis. He was raised on the Swiderski farm 3 1/2 miles east of Invermay until 1962, when his father passed away. That winter, his family moved into Rama for one winter. Later, they moved to the Grona farm, southeast of Invermay, when his mom remarried Michael Grona, and he later became a big brother to Lillian and Dale.
Myles attended and received his education in Invermay and Rama until grade 9. When Myles was done with school, he remained on the farm and worked for the neighbours as farm help.
In 1976, he gained employment with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool construction crew. He continued this work throughout Saskatchewan for 17 years until the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool future changed, and they no longer required construction crews.
Myles then returned home to farm. In 2007, Myles started working as an equipment operator for the RM of Invermay. After starting at the RM, Myles farmed for one more year, then rented his land out, and continued with the RM for 15 years until his retirement in 2022.
Myles was a hard-working, quiet man who like to keep to himself. He enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his yard. He also liked going for a drive and checking crops. From time to time, he would even help his mom with baking and pinching perogies. Myles was Dale‘s right hand man and was always willing to help. He often helped Dale with their mom’s care.
Myles also shared his birthday with his mom, Jean. Unexpectedly and quickly his health deteriorated which led him to his eternal rest at Regina General Hospital on January 8, 2024. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Myles was predeceased by father, Joseph Swiderski, mother, Jean Grona, and stepfather, Michael Grona; brother, Eugene Swiderski; sister-in-law, Verna Swiderski; and his nephews, Curtis Swiderski and Kevin Swiderski.
He is survived by brothers, Fred Swiderski and Dennis Swiderski; stepbrother, Dale Grona; stepsister, Lillian (Ken) Faure; nieces, Shelley (Johnnie) Burghardt, Trina (Derek) Helberg, and Janelle (Robert) Butts; nephews, Shawn Faure and Trevor Faure; and his great nephews and nieces: Kaitlyn, Ty, Desirae, Kole and Hayden.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 15, 2024, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Shawna Leson as certified celebrant officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s RC Parish Cemetery, north of Rama, SK.
