With profound sadness, we lose from our midst NINA GRACE ROBARTS TINNION, beloved wife of the late Kenneth Tinnion, and daughter of Hand of the Cause John Robarts & Audrey Robarts (née FitzGerald). Nina passed peacefully in Joliette, Québec, on July 19th 2024, in her 85th year.
Born in Toronto on May 13th 1940, Nina will be deeply missed by her children: Anne Tinnion (Serge), Julia Tinnion (d. John), grandchildren: Chelsea (Patrick), Susan (Emma), Katherine (Gilles), and great grandchildren: Luca & Rosalie.
Nina was predeceased by her loving husband Ken, and brothers Aldham Robarts (Avril), Gerald Robarts, Patrick Robarts (Nancy, d. Geraldine).
Wonderful aunt to Adam Robarts (Karyn), Simon Robarts (Andrea), Sarah Robarts (Bob), Rachel Stepanek (Paul), Lucy Yardley (Michael) and Elizabeth Mathewson (d. David).
Loved by all who knew her, Nina was a woman of faith who dedicated herself to the service of Bahá’u’lláh and, as an innovative teacher and inspiring motivator, to the promotion of international peace. Her service to the Bahá’í communities of Rawdon, and Botswana stretch back over seven decades.
Nina worked first as a teacher, and then indefatigably as a devoted mother and daughter, serving her parents for the last 50 years of their lives in their service to the Bahá’í Faith.
Nina was the perfect exemplar of self-abnegation, and will be fondly remembered in her community of Rawdon, Québec, as a teacher, pianist/organist, and mostly for her empathy, caring, positive, and joyful spirit.
Special thanks to the staff and volunteers of the palliative care unit of the Centre hospitalier régional de Lanaudière for their unfailing kindness and support.
Visitation will be at Résidences funéraire Labrèche, 3283 4e Ave, Rawdon, on July 23rd 2024, from 1 to 2pm. Funeral service to follow at 2pm. Burial will be at Cimetière Oecuménique de Rawdon, 3200 Chem. Forest, Rawdon.
