In Loving Memory of Mario Di Donato
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mario Di Donato, a beloved husband, father, brother, and esteemed member of the community. Mario departed this world on January 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories.
Mario met the love of his life, Solidea, and together they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that spanned over 53 wonderful years. Solidea was not only his spouse but also his confidante, partner in adventures, and the rock upon which Mario built his family. Their union was blessed with the joy of raising two sons, Maurizio (Bella) and Mario Jr., whom Mario loved dearly and was immensely proud of.
Mario was born on October 2, 1946, in Nocciano, Abruzzo, Italy. From a young age, Mario exemplified qualities of kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith. He grew up in a close-knit family alongside his siblings, the late Domenic (Nina) and surviving sister Lydia (Mauro). The bonds of family were always a source of strength and joy for Mario.
A man of deep faith, Mario was a devoted Catholic who found solace and strength in his spiritual beliefs. His commitment to his faith was not only evident in his regular attendance at church but also in the way he lived his life with compassion, humility, and a sense of duty towards others. Mario’s spiritual journey was further enriched by his esteemed position as a Knight of Columbus, a role in which he served with honor and dedication.
Mario’s warm heart and welcoming nature extended beyond his immediate family to his many siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He cultivated meaningful relationships with each member of his extended family, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Despite the sorrow that accompanies his departure, Mario’s loved ones find comfort in the beautiful memories he leaves behind. His legacy lives on in the smiles of his children, the laughter of his friends and family, and the love that he shared with everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Mario’s honor.
May Mario Di Donato rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and bring solace to those who loved him.
Visitations for Mario have been entrusted to the DeMarco Funeral Home – Woodbridge Chapel (8003 Weston Road. 905.850.9500) and will commence on Monday, January 22nd, 2024 from 2:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. and conducted at St. Clare of Assisi Parish (150 St. Francis Ave., Woodbridge, On.). Immediately following Mario’s Mass an Entombment Service will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens (1810 Albion Rd., Etobicoke, On.).
