Obituary of Monty Bennett
BENNETT, Hugh Monteith ‘Monty’ has taken off for his last flight. He passed away peacefully November 11, 2023 at Gateway Haven, Wiarton. Monty was born on September 19, 1930 to Elgin and Marjory Bennett in Parry Sound. He was the much loved father of Geri Eva (Bob), Paul and John (Donna) all of the Wiarton area and Donna Klaczek (Bob) of Sherwood Park, Alberta. Dear grandfather of Marc Anderson (Lisa), Kara Honsinger (Cory) and Megan Hillier (Darren), all of Alberta and Lindsay Eva (Colin) and Bethany Greco (Dean) of Owen Sound as well as 7 great grandchildren. Remembered by sister Patricia Fryfogle of St. Albert, Alberta as well as 2 nieces and 4 nephews. Predeceased by wife Eileen (nee Mills), sister-in-law Joan Burgess McGuire (Jim) and brother-in-law Barry Fryfogle.
Monty was the owner operator of Bennetts 5c to $1 store Wiarton and retired from the store, being a family business for over 60 years. He was also active at Wiarton Rotary Club, Wiarton Flying Club and St. John’s United Church.
The funeral service will be conducted at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Colpoy’s Bay Cemetery.
