Marion Leppky Hiebert Obituary
Marion Leppky Hiebert, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at Bob Kemp Hospice on November 13th, 2024 with her family by her side.
Marion was born to John and Mary Leppky on July 19, 1943. She grew up the oldest daughter of four on the family farm in Tourond MB. She enjoyed an idyllic childhood living on her grandpa Leppky’s farm. A quick witt and clever one-liners were honed in these years with lots of boy cousins, family fun and farm life.
Marion’s world shattered at the age of ten when her father passed away suddenly. A supernatural encounter with the Love of God at the Brunk Revival with close friend Helene Funk would redeem that experience and change her life forever.
Marion attended Steinbach Bible Institute where she met, fell in love and married a dynamic young man named Bert Hiebert. They were married 62 years and had 4 wonderful children. Marion’s beauty was front and centre…flowing outfits, hair and accessories…a woman of presence with regal stature.
Marion and Bert lived in Steinbach and Winnipeg MB then moved to Burlington, Ontario in 1987. Marion pursued a career in beauty, health and wellness, opening her own clinic in Hamilton and Burlington.
Marion was a truth-teller with a no BS approach to life! She was a matriarch with a positive outlook, sense of humour, intelligence and unwavering faith. She was a wonderful friend and mentor to many. With a twinkle in her eye she would always ask for the “The Good Report”. She taught many about what a good bowl of soup and a loaf of bread could do for the soul! Countless conversations took place over a carefully prepared cup of tea served with homemade scones, clotted cream and her favourite jam.
Marion loved her family and enjoyed hosting gatherings at their home in Burlington. She valued family history, often scouring her many Mennonite Preserving’s magazine issues. She passionately researched and passed on the stories of her ancestors to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed good food, classical music, the arts, history, architecture, politics and had an insightful worldview. She was also a dynamic leader in Pioneer Girls, Chairperson of Christian Women’s Club, Prayer Leader & Home Group Leader for many years at Hamilton Christian Fellowship. She was active in prayer ministry with Deborah Arise, Station One/Live Cats and MASH Zoom Prayer. She was a life-long intercessor praying her children and grandchildren through many dangers, toils and snares!
Marion was gifted with wisdom and the ability to identify giftings and callings in people, patiently nurturing and encouraging them along the way. Independent thought and freedom to pursue adventure were always championed. She was generous, tenaciously positive, excelled at hospitality, non-judgemental and warmly accepting of others. She listened with empathy attracting the hurting and broken.
Marion was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Bert of 62 years, parents, John and Mary Leppky, brother Dave and wife Ruth Leppky. She leaves to cherish her memory; son Myron (Cheryl) Hiebert, daughter Barbara (Barry) Simmons, daughter Audrey (Thomas) Marek, son Ryley (Nancy) Hiebert; grandchildren Emery Hiebert, Kallen (Brittney) Hiebert, Rhandi (Gionathan) Delvecchio, Maria (Cameron) Simmons-Parant, David, Samuel and Jordan Marek, Matthew, Megan and Evan Hiebert; great-grandchildren Finley, Nash, Aimes, Roman and Dawson.
To honour Marion an “Ox & Oil Cream Tea” will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 3pm at HAMILTON CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP 135 Strathcona Ave. N., Hamilton.
“He gives me the strength of the WILD OX and pours out precious oils upon me…But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own garden. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green.”
Psalms 92:10, 12-14 NLT
