Passed away suddenly with family by his side at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston, on September 24, 2024. John , at the age of 83 years, was the beloved father of Elena (Miguel Ebrahimi), Laura (Sherif Attia), Julie, Thomas, and Mary. Loving grandfather of Nathan, Tyler, Matthew, Zein, Seleem, Bilal, and Magdy. Dear brother of Jim (Anne), Paul, and Margaret Rowland (the late Fred). He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephew, Kathy, Rob, and Lesley. Forever in the hearts of his extended family and friends.
John (“Pappy”) grew up and lived his life on the family farm, a place that grounded him in nature and hard work. He had a deep love for hockey, a sport he followed with passion throughout his life. He also found great spiritual connection at St. James Church, where his faith was nurtured over the years.
The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham, 905-936-3477, on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Church, Colgan, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 12 p.m., followed by cremation. A reception will be held at the Funeral Home’s Cliffside Hall after the Funeral Mass. For those who wish, donations in John’s memory to St. James Church, Colgan, would be appreciated.
