December 26, 1934 – October 9, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruth on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Kensington Hospice surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89. Now reunited with her husband Frank, parents and 10 siblings. She leaves behind her children Darlene (Tony Simek), Tony (Ella), Robbie, Stella Maria (Corrado Romanino). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Robert, Matthew, Ryan, Lauren (Mario), Brittany, Abby (Austin), Brooke, Taylor and Christian. Proud great nana to 11.
Ruth, was born in Newfoundland and moved to Toronto at the age of 18. She first worked at the Royal York Hotel and then with the TDSB (P.C.I.) for several years. She was also a big part of her community. Her volunteering and commitment presented her the opportunity to have lunch with Queen Elizabeth II.
Ruth enjoyed music, travelling, hockey and entertaining family and friends. She always had an open door and loved to make people feel welcome. Her motto was live, laugh and love often.
Ruth’s faith was always a big part of her life and she has attended the church of Ephiphany and St. Mark since 1956.
Ruth has touched many lives by being a friend to all and had a great sense of humour. She will be dearly missed.

Friends and relatives are welcomed to the Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin Street, south of Lawrence Avenue W.) on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 4 – 9 pm.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated in Ruth’s memory at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin Street, south of Lawrence Avenue W.) on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.
Private cremation to follow.
