Mary Alice Egechi (Loxley), 73, left this world peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 06, 2024, to join all her loved ones who passed on before her, in loving memory.
Mary, known as Nanny or Aunt Mary to most, was born on March 29, 1951, in Toronto, ON to the late William (Bill) Loxley and Elinor (Glynn) Loxley. She is survived by a lot of family, including her brothers John and Bill, and her sisters, Bella and Peggy. Mary had one child, Lennette, who gave her seven grandchildren: Brandy, Chris, Jade, Kyrene, Neyla, Erynn and Lukas. Mary also had many great grandchildren, including Aiden, Alyssa, Idora, Idine, J.R, Dominic, Dontay, and Xavier. Beyond that are the nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, whose childhoods Mary was a joyful part of.
Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a big kid at heart. You could always catch her striking up a song from a random word during a conversation, entice her with a game of cards like solitaire, cribbage or Crazy Eights, a bottle of Coca-Cola and a bag of Lays Original Potato chips, or simply make her day by playing a game with her. She loved to sing, laugh and listen to her loved ones tell their stories, gossip or their troubles. Mary was truly dependable and a bright light in each life that she touched.
Mary, you were a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. You made all our lives feel that much richer and warmer having been a part of it. We will miss you dearly.
