Our beautiful Laurel Brady died at Michael Garron Hospital in East York, on Feb. 25, 2024, in her 61st year. Loving daughter of Patricia Brady; sister of Christine Brady (Mark Brewer), Kirby Brady (Kate), Cameron Brady, and Derrick Brady; birth mother to Leigh-la Middlebrooks; aunt to Kira Prince, Kealeagh Brewer, Nolan Brewer and Owen Brady; and dear friend to Patti Smyth and Laurie Allan. Pre-deceased by her father, Frank Brady.
Friends and family will remember Laurel for her beauty, courage and forgiving heart. Laurel knew more than her share of hardship, but it didn’t destroy her spirit. Music soothed her soul and, boy, could she belt out a song. Laurel had an amazing singing voice and an uncanny ability to remember all of the lyrics to every song.
In the last days of Laurel’s life, she sang us her favourite song, Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), by The Beatles. Our dear, sweet Laurel has flown from us and will be greatly missed.
Special gratitude is extended to the staff at CAMH and Leyla Didari of Community Outreach Services at Michael Garron Hospital for their compassion and care towards Laurel throughout the years.
