John Edward Kane, affectionately known as “Jack”, was born on December 23, 1927 in Long Island City, New York, and passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023 in Toronto, Ontario, one month shy of his 96th birthday.
Jack was a devoted husband to his beloved soulmate, Rhonda Ryman. He was father to the late Deborah Candace Wood (Michael) and to Candace Denice Morin (Daniel), Michael John Kane (Judy), and Jacqueline Ann Enfield. He is survived by his sister Katherine “Kitty” Sinatra, his first wife Barbara Hodgson, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A cherished brother-in-law, he is remembered fondly by Arthur and Robyn Ryman, the late Rochelle “Rickey” Ryman Costrell, and Bob and Barbara Costrell. An adored uncle, he holds a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, going by the nickname “Uncle Duck” to Rachel (Michael) and Emma (Ben) Ryman, and Sarah (Avik) and Ben Costrell.
Known for his good nature, his infectious sense of humor, and his talent for mixing the perfect Manhattan, Jack leaves behind a wealth of treasured moments for his family and friends. We love you, Jack. May your memory be a blessing.
