It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barb Maxwell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on July 4th, 2024, at the age of 87. Barb was the cornerstone of our family, a beacon of strength, love, and unwavering support.
Barb had a passion for life that touched everyone around her. She was the cherished wife of Rod, her partner and confidant for over 65 years. Together, they created a family full of love and laughter, raising their children, Alex and Pam, in a home where warmth and kindness flourished.
Barb embraced each season and its activities with gusto. Cottage life is where she found joy in the simple pleasures of spending time surrounded by family and friends where memories were made and cherished.
Her love for performing was another defining aspect of her life. Barb was an avid theatre-goer, on and off the stage. Barb’s legacy is one of love, creativity, and resilience. She taught us the importance of family, the joy of pursuing our passions, and the beauty of a life well-lived.
Barb leaves behind her devoted husband Rod Maxwell; her loving children, Alex Maxwell-Leech (Charles) and Pam Maxwell-Steele (Andrew); her 4 adored grandchildren, Hudson, James, Cecelia, and Piper; her sisters Brenda Curliss and Lynda Ritchie, as well as a wide circle of dear friends and extended family. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 117 Bloor St. E, Toronto, at 10am on Wednesday, August 28th with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in memory of Barbara Maxwell to St. Michael’s Foundation.
