It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Antonio (Totō,Tony) Marcello, who left us peacefully on August 18th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sant’Onofrio, Vibo Valentia, Italy on October 2nd 1943, Antonio immigrated with his family to Toronto, Canada in 1954. Shortly after finishing highschool, Antonio traveled to the U.S to obtain an education at the University of Connecticut where he pursued studies in Medical Science. He then traveled back to Italy to attend the University of Messina where he achieved his dreams of attending Medical School and later graduated with a degree in Microbiology.
Using his medical background, he was always ready with advice and eager to accompany family and friends to medical appointments, most importantly to provide comfort. Antonio was a pillar of strength for his family and constantly brought smiles and laughter to the table. His positive attitude and outlook on life was inspiring to all. A true gentleman who embodied kindness, love, consideration, and empathy, he always put family and friends before himself when they were in need.
Antonio joins in eternal rest his parents Basilio and Caterina, as well as his loving sister Felicia. He will be forever missed by his brother Giorgio and his sister-in-law Isabella. Antonio was the very proud uncle to his nephews Basil and Domenico (Sabrina), and to his niece Caterina (Michael), each who he loved deeply and in return they loved him immensely. He will be deeply missed by his great nieces and nephew, Eliana, Laura, Massimo, Ava, and Amelia, who all brought an infinite amount of pride and joy to his life.
Distance may separate us, but love will always keep us together.
Visitation(s) will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., South of Lawrence Ave. W) on Thursday, August 22nd from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Angels Church (61 Jutland Road, Etobicoke) on Friday, August 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery (7300 Highway 27, north of Highway 407.)
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
