Obituary for
Robert “Bob” Jackman
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, cousin and friend. Bob passed away peacefully at home, in the loving arms of his family after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was an Avid Outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and most of all, time on his motorcycles. He remained a True Newfoundlander at Heart, always making time to visit his home Province, and more importantly, family and friends. His stubbornness and fierce independence drove him to succeed in life, leaving Newfoundland at a young age, putting himself through Lakehead University to become a Forester, and ultimately establishing his own business in Northern Ontario.
Bob leaves to mourn his cherished kids, Sean Goold, Jason Jackman, and Kai Jackman, his siblings Gerry and Susan, his cousins Sharon and Dave, his sisters in law Lynn and Natasha, his nephews, Paul, Douglas, Ryan, Alexander, Christopher, his nieces Sunday, Brielle and Bronwyn, his many very special friends, most notably Glen, Jeff and Ian, and his beloved pup, Odie. Bob is now in the loving arms of his parents, Marie and Gerry, his baby brother Paul, and his eldest brother Doug.
The family would like to thank Bob’s nurse, Liz, our light in the storm, Dr Paul Miron and the nurses of Oncology Medical Unit C at Timmins Hospital for their compassionate care and the neighbours who fed us and comforted us. A very special thank you to Glen, a lifelong friend of Bob’s.
A celebration of Bob’s life will take place on Thursday night, June 13, 2024 at his home in Timmins at 6pm. Any and all friends are welcome. A celebration of life will also be held next summer in St. John’s Newfoundland for his family and friends on the island.
