Obituary for
Mirabelle Picotte
It is with hearts too heavy to bear that we share the news of the loss of our beautiful, funny, bright little Mirabelle. Forever cherished by her parents Stephan and Karissa Picotte and her sister Téah. She drew people in with her sky blue eyes, her infectious smile, her deep belly laugh, and her suspicious side eye. She loved all things that had to do with water, the sun on her skin, and the wind in her hair (even at -30). Sensory bins were her jam, and every little object had to be intensely scrutinized before being tossed aside.
She shared a special bond with her little (big) sister, Téah. From the beginning, Téah always wanted to play with her sister, feed her, bathe her, and make her laugh. Above all else, she was Mirabelle’s biggest advocate with simple phrases like, “Hi, this is Mia. She’s my sister. She has a cool chair, huh?” What they shared, and will continue to share, is priceless to witness.
Mirabelle was born with a neurological condition called KCNQ2, which led us to connect with many different organizations, and form a pretty great little special needs village. From her physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy team at the Children’s Treatment Centre, to the high support programs at Schumacher Public School and St-Dominique, Mirabelle touched so many lives with her bright little soul. If you were lucky enough for her to flash you those blue eyes and that big grin, you were sucked in and there was no escaping. Her friends and families (Mirabelle basically had a second mom, dad, sister, and grandparents) love her dearly and will look for pieces of her in the stars in the night sky, the rainbows after the rain, and in every bowl of Cheetos.
Mirabelle’s condition made us a part of the CHEO (The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario) family, where we received nothing but amazing care from the supportive, compassionate, and kind staff there, from Mirabelle’s first day, to her last. For this reason, we ask that donations be sent to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Mirabelle’s honour, so they can continue to care for and support other families like us. We would also like to thank the paramedics, trauma team at Timmins and District Hospital, and ORNGE for their phenomenal care, not only of our little love, but of us as well. We will forever be grateful.
We’d like to invite family and friends to join us at the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, March 10th, 2024 from 2 pm to 4pm for a celebration of Mirabelle’s life. Remembrance donations to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
