Obituary for
Maurice “Moe” St-Jean
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Moe St Jean at the age of 81, at the Timmins and District Hospital on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Moe is survived by his beloved wife and life partner Micheline (nee Chartrand) St Jean. He also leaves behind his dearest brother, Robert St Jean (late Monique), sister, Cecile Zanutto (late Ron), his sister-in-law Carmen Boulay (late Paul), as well as his brothers-in-law, Mike Chartrand (Linda) and Gaetan Chartrand (Linda). He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Henry St Jean, Remi St Jean and sister Rollande St Jean.
He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews near and far: Tina Bilodeau (Dave), Cindy Boulay (Estabrooks), Shawn Chartrand (Emma), Suzanne Lyons (Sean), Jennifer Vallier (Dave), Angela Baker (Gary), Benoit St Jean, and Martine Fortin (Mike). Additionally, he will be missed by his great nieces and nephews, Jordan Bilodeau (Taylor R.), Taylor Bilodeau, Reilie Lyons, Ava Lyons, Kieran Vallier, Liam Vallier, Caleb Estabrooks, Braeden Estabrooks, Raven Baker, Gavin Baker and his great, great nephew, Carter Bilodeau.
Moe was a good man who meant a lot to many people. He loved spending time with his friends. When one reminisces of Moe, they will remember him with a smile as he always brought so much joy to all those he knew.
In his early years, Moe survived many of life’s challenges having left home at a very young age. He was a hard working man. Moe spent 49 years in the tire business as a salesman until his retirement. He was recognized as an honest man in all his dealings with his customers.
Moe loved the “cottage life”, especially his time at Keefer Lake and Akweskwa Lake where fishing, hunting, camping, singing around the campfire, playing the harmonica as well as his guitar were some of his favorite activities. Moe was also very athletic. In his prime, he enjoyed playing fastball, water skiing, broomball, bowling, curling, golf but most of all ice hockey. As an “Old Timer” Moe was lucky enough to travel to faraway countries to play hockey with his friends and represented Timmins very well. Moe also loved animals and was especially fond of dogs.
Micheline would like to extend her most heartfelt thanks to all of Moe’s caregivers, Dr. Bill Yates, Dr. Kanya-Forstner, and the entire nursing staff on Medical- B at TADH. A very special thank you to Dr. Lynne Schwertfeger for her time, professionalism and compassion.
After the tears have dried and the goodbyes were said, we are comforted in the many memories, the stories, and the love that he left with us. We are richer for it all.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.
In his honour, remembrance donations to the TADH Foundation or the Timmins Food Bank would be greatly appreciated.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins. To make online donations or condolences, please visit www.mironwilson.com
