Obituary for
Helen Mary Scott (See)
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Mary Helen (See) Scott. Helen passed away on March 9th at the Timmins and District Hospital while in Hospice at the age of 91. Beloved wife of Warren A Scott and treasured mother to Lynda Forsyth (Graham, deceased); Sandra Cornell (George); Valerie Matte (Don, deceased). As an inspirational Grandmother to Sean Forsyth, Shannon Noseworthy (Chuck), Scott Forsyth (Lori), Lindsay Cornell (Colin), Matthew Cornell (Erin), Melody Matte, MacKenzie Matte her words of wisdom will be missed. Also mourning the loss of Helen are 11 great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.
Helen was predeceased by her Father, Harold See and her Mother Mary (Tierney) See, as well as her brother Vard See, her sisters Velma Haufe and Margorie Joly and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was an intelligent, empathetic, independent, adventurous and resilient woman. She raised her three daughters to be kind, caring, self-confident, independent and loving women.
Helen enjoyed 72years married to Warren, the love of her life. Together they enjoyed many adventures over the years, exploring the great outdoors camping, fishing and gardening. She was accomplished in her many endeavors working as a primary school teacher, a journalist, and a figure skating judge. Most notable was her success as the first Regional Co-ordinator for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada – Timmins and District Region.
When it came time to retire, Helen and Warren purchased a motor home and traveled extensively for many years exploring Canada and the United States. They eventually settled in a wonderful RV park in Florida establishing this as their winter home. They enjoyed making many friends and challenging themselves to learn the game of golf, which they became proficient in. Helen was admired for her coordinated sense of fashion. She never left home without her accessories and clothes matching. She loved every opportunity to shop with her daughters and, yes, there was always a little more jewelry to hide from Warren!
Many Thanks go out to the amazing and kind Medical B Team of nurses and Drs. Liu and Griffiths and to the Palliative Care Team of nurses and Drs. Hopkins and Ouellette.
Always missed…Never forgotten…Rest in Peace.
