Gerald M. Daigneault
The family wishes to announce with great sorrow the peaceful passing of Gerry at the age of 86 at Timmins and District Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving wife Lise, of 43 years, and his girls. He will be greatly missed by his girls Corinne, Carol (Jerry), Christine (Ulysse), Charlene and step-children Amber, Lee-Ann (Hugh), and Brent (Michele).
Fun loving Papa to 17 grandchildren Judy, Jessica, Tylor, Justine, Natasha, Cassidy, Billy, Karine, Genevieve, Ryan, Aven, Ronan, Isabelle, Teah, Celu, Leo, and Maya. He also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren who loved him dearly.
Gerry was honoured to be called Godfather by Steven, Michael, Teddy, Gerry, Maryanne and Mark.
Also left to mourn are his sisters Nancy (Ron), Marlene, and his sisters in law Sandra, Cathy, Denise, Carole (Peni), and brothers in law Don, Real, John and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerry was fortunate enough to have two great loves in his life; Lise, and Judy the mother of his girls who passed away in 1980. He was also predeceased by his loving parents Moise and Dorothy, his sister Joyce, his brother Ron and many brother’s and sister’s in law.
In his youth Gerry worked alongside his father at Daigneault Motors while earning his trade certificate as a heavy-duty mechanic. Gerry then moved on to Tisdale Trucks where he perfected his trade and love of the industry. In 1973 the dream of having his own business became a reality and Super City Truck Centre was opened. He had many accomplishments in business, even after many years of retirement he is still fondly remembered by the International Truck Dealer Association, as well many local business owners. Gerry always considered his employees as part of his family, watching them achieve professional and personal growth brought him great joy.
Local philanthropist Gerry gave without expectation. He gave time, energy and commitment to the causes he believed in. He was a loving family man who created memories for everyone. Hosting get togethers , bonfires and boating at Nighthawk Lake was the source of many great celebrations. He was fortunate enough to travel the world, and made a lot of friends along the way.
Everyone will miss his million dollar smile and contagious laugh.
The family wishes to express gratitude to all Timmins and District Hospital staff and Dr. Tammy Hopkins who were involved in his care. Their kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed.
