Obituary for
Caroline Jean Daoust (Racicot)
Peacefully in her 80th year, in the early hours of March 9, at St. Mary’s Gardens.
Caroline Jean Daoust (nee Racicot) was a longtime resident of Timmins, Ontario after immigrating from Scotland as a child. Caroline is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jules Daoust, son Shane (Doris), grandson Brady, beloved dog Midnight, and siblings Bonnie (Todd), Wanda, Lynda (Gaetan) and Roger (Lynn). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Caroline is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Catherine, and siblings Bob, Pauline and Joe.
Caroline had a soft-spoken, sweet demeanour. Whether working a shift at a local restaurant, baking treats at home, or visiting family, she was always eager to help make everyone’s day brighter. As a young woman (and the eldest of eight siblings), Caroline was dedicated to helping her mother prepare meals and care for her family; she is fondly remembered for being a wonderful, selfless big sister. After marrying the love of her life, Jules, in 1974, she enjoyed many years raising their son, socializing with friends over coffee, making Christmas crafts, and spending lots of quality time with Jules and Midnight.
Caroline was cherished and loved immensely. Her absence will be felt by many, but her kind spirit will live on through all of the hearts she touched in her time here.
The family would like to thank the healthcare providers and staff at Timmins and District Hospital and St. Mary’s Gardens for the incredible care they provided to Caroline.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation. A celebration of life will be held on a future date.
