Geysens, Paul Marcel (May 25, 1937 – July 25, 2024)
Paul Geysens passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side, in body and in spirit at the Hamilton General Hospital after succumbing to his injuries as a result of a motor vehicle accident on July 8, 2024. Beloved husband of Jeanette (Denys) of 66 years and adored father of Joanne Barta (Simon), Christine Poirier (Marc) and Carolyn Nowe (Harry). Loving and proud Grandfather to Simon Barta Jr. (Megan), Anthony Barta (Kristen), Marc Paul Poirier (Rebecca), Kyle Nowe (Olivia), Nicole Nowe and Alexis Nowe and Great Grandfather to Lincoln Poirier. Paul is also survived by his sister Yvonne Verhaeghe, sister in laws Maria Geysens, Anita Geysens and Laurette Lisabeth along with several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Maurice and Irma Geysens, brothers Gaston Geysens (Maria), Roger Geysens (Anita), brother in laws Lieven Verhaeghe (Yvonne), Omar Caerels (Agnes), Mecheal Lisabeth (Laurette) and his sister-in-law Agnes Caerels.
Paul was born in Hooglede, Belgium and came to Canada to live in Norfolk County. He spent most of his life farming tobacco with his family. Paul loved to hunt. He enjoyed an annual trip to Peelee Island with his brother Gaston and nephew Gino to pheasant hunt for over 50 years. He loved turkey hunting and deer hunting with his wife Jeanette by his side. He spent some time flying radio control airplanes and loved to share that passion by teaching others how to fly. He loved to build just about anything and enjoyed treating his loved ones to some of his famous food that he loved to cook, from homemade bread to Belgian waffles as well as perch dinners and smoked trout. Paul had a very loving, kind spirit and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will follow at his internment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Langton, ON. Everyone who knew Paul is invited to attend a public Celebration of Life on Friday, September 20th, 2024, between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. in the Langton Community Centre, 28 Albert Street, Langton.
