DARRYL ALBERT ALWARD
(December 10, 1954 – May 27, 2024)
Suddenly, at his home in Tillsonburg on Monday, May 27, 2024, Darryl Albert Alward passed away at the age of 69 years. Beloved husband of the Late Robin Alward (2023) for 41 years. Proud and loving father of Erica Tipping (Kevin), Paul Helmer, Robert Helmer (Trisha), Adam Alward (Kristen) and Rachel Alward. Cherished grandpa to 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Dear brother of Gladys Crawford, Linda McCall (Art), Gloria Dewey (Carl) and brother-in-law of Dave Becker and Van Haskett. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Cleo Long, Shirley Walker, Blanche Haskett and brother Wayne Alward. Darryl spent many years as a truck driver. In his youth he was an avid baseball and hockey player and coach. He enjoyed fishing, classic cars and he was considered a real jokester. Darryl’s passion was his family, especially his grandchildren whom he would do anything for. In keeping with Darryl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the LaSalette Community Hall, 94 LaSalette Road, LaSalette. A private family graveside service will be held at Walsh Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation may be made directly online or by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted by the Alward family.
