Charles Westley Kennedy

Charles Westley Kennedy of Tillsonburg, Ontario passed away into Heaven on August 31, 2024 in his 90th year. Charles was born February 14, 1935 on the family farm in Eden, Ontario. He was the son of Bruce and Alta (Lester) Kennedy. Surviving is his loving wife Donna (Reid) Kennedy of 60 years. Survived by his sister Dora (Kennedy) Thomas, sisters-in-law Fern Shelley, Irene Earles and half-brother Wayne Davis (Annette).
He was predeceased by his parents Bruce and Alta Kennedy and his siblings Henry and Velma, Martha, Lila May and Gordon, Jennie and David Falkins and Patrick Kennedy. Sisters and brothers in laws, Glen and Barbara Langfield, Dorothy Hegmans, June and Buck Butcher, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Retta and Melvin Davis. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great and great greats.
Charles and Donna were married at First Baptist Church, October 26, 1963 and they were baptized in November 1964 and joined the Church. Charles worked for Tobacco Companies as an Industrial Accountant until his retirement in 1987, at which time they moved back home to Tillsonburg from Simcoe, Ontario.
Charles served on many committees at First Baptist as Treasurer and later as newly formed President of the Directors. Charles was a very quiet man but when he spoke everyone listened.
Charles was a “Fix it Guy”. Small appliances and anything around the house he could fix.
Visitation will be held at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON N4G 3T6 (519) 842-5221 after cremation on Saturday September 7, 2024 from 11:00am until 1:00pm and his Celebration of Life will be at 1:00pm with Pastor Donna Chapman and Pastor Lola Mather-Dyer officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society, the Springford Baptist Church or any Charity of your Choice. Donations can be done directly with each organization via cheque payable to the organization and mailing to Ostrander’s Funeral Home.
Luncheon will be served at the Rec Centre at Baldwin place, 142 Weston Drive, Tillsonburg, ON
