We are sad to announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Mark Frank Renaud, at the very young age of 41. He passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, August 19, 2023 with his family by his side.
Mark was born in Thunder Bay on October 7, 1981, and was a member of Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek First Nation. He went to Bishop Gallagher elementary and Hillcrest High School. He met the love of his life – Rebecca Lee of Fort William First Nation – in August 2008. Together for 16 years, they raised three children together: Heather, Brett, and Jarred. Mark was also papa to his grandson Dax, and father to Angelina.
Mark was there in the delivery room for his son Jarred. This was a huge moment in all of our lives. Jarred had some complications at birth, which required us to bring him into the world at Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital. Mark anxiously waited by Rebecca’s side each step of the way, and he was overjoyed when Jarred arrived safely.
Mark enjoyed life to its fullest. When he wasn’t working, he was spending time with family, fixing vehicles, golfing, or hitting the slopes with his brother. He also loved spending evenings watching movies and just being with his family.
At the time of his passing, Mark was a Maintenance Operator at Emcon Services in Thunder Bay, where he was part of the road maintenance team. Emcon greatly valued the quality of Mark’s work, his work ethic and his attitude, noting that he was a positive example for all those around him. Our family thanks the folks at Emcon for their kindness and support through this difficult time.
Mark will be forever missed by the love of his life, Rebecca; children Angelina, Heather, Brett, and Jarred, and grandson Dax. He is also deeply missed by his mother Lorina Lewis and his brother Denis Jr. He was predeceased by his father, Denis Sr., auntie Angela Lewis, grandparents Marcella & Patrick Renaud and Frank & Irene Lewis, as well as great grandparents Sam & Marie Desmoulin.
Funeral Services for Mark will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of donations, please hug your loved ones – life is precious and there is no telling when it might be taken away.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
