The family of Gary Howard Halverson, age 75 is saddened to announce his sudden passing at Hogarth Riverview Manor on January 6, 2024. Gary was a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay with a short period of time spent working in Winnipeg. A journeyman carpenter, Gary worked on various construction projects in Thunder Bay.
He and his brother Ray maintained a close relationship over the many years and regarded each other as best friends. He was always up for a good game of pool or a discussion on NFL football with his sons James and Paul.
Gary struggled for much of his life and spent many years in long term care and other health care facilities in Thunder Bay. His final years were spent in Hogarth River View Manor where he frequently expressed how lucky he was for the wonderful care he received. A heartfelt thanks to all who showed such care and compassion for Gary.
Gary is survived by his sons James Halverson and Paul Turcotte, his brother Ray, and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his sister Eileen LaRush, brother Gordon Halverson and his parents Yvonne and Howard Halverson.
As per Gary’s wishes there will be no funeral. An interment will be held in St. Andrew’s cemetery for the immediate family in the summer.
