It is with deeply heavy hearts that we must announce the sudden and unexpected loss of our beloved Brandyn on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in Thunder Bay. This experience is not the outcome we had hoped for or could have ever imagined. The pain that we are experiencing is immeasurable. There is a deep emptiness in all of our hearts as we begin to navigate this life without him.
Brandyn was the youngest in his family born at 9:14 am on November 30, 1993, he was mom’s little boy. He was selfless in everything he did and always put others before himself. He absolutely loved his family with his entire being and would do anything for anyone. He gave the best hugs, tight and strong, almost crushing your chest at times. Though he had some troubles in his young life he most recently was trying to navigate through them to become the best new version of himself. As a young boy he was an avid sports enthusiast – playing soccer, hockey, skateboarding, snowboarding, biking and really anything outdoors. He enjoyed family camping trips (his favourite park was Sibley) which would be weeklong, and he got to bring a friend. Another huge passion was his love of his Xbox, which he would play frequently and was always excited for his next new game.
He lived in the Westfort area his entire life. Attended school at Hyde Park, Kingsway Park, and Churchill High School – graduating in 2012. Following high school, he started his apprenticeship in Sheet Metal with Fab-Air Metals. He also spent some time working at Cardinal Roofing and was last employed with Nutech Sheet Metal. He had been a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 397. Brandyn loved to work with his hands, and due to his type A personality, he was a bit of a perfectionist.
The absolute love of his life was his dog, Bailey, who he rescued from the mission in 2013. We, of course, needed no more puppies, but Brandyn was determined. Bailey has been his main focus over the years and the one thing that truly kept him going. You would often see Brandyn and Bailey roaming the Westfort area. Bailey would be “off-leash” because he hated having her tethered. As much as Brandyn loved Bailey, Bailey loved Brandyn back two-fold. They were inseparable and Bailey was always by his side, until the very end.
Most recently, Brandyn had been working very hard to better his life and move forward in a positive direction. He, and his family, were very excited about the progress he was making (Your family was EXTREMELY proud of you, Brandyn). Sadly, we were unable to see you reap the fruits you had sown.
Brandyn was a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He leaves behind his parents Mabel Morin and Roy Doust, his brother Dustyn (Kristy) Farrow, his sister Karli Doust, his grandmother Alice Morton, niece Alexa and nephews Davyn and Braedyn.
Brandyn was predeceased by his grandparents Margaret and Alfred Doust, his grandfather Richard Griffiths.
There will be a private funeral service for Brandyn’s family. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at The Westfort, 1408 Brown Street. Brandyn’s family invites anyone who was close with Brandyn to come to this event. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Brandyn to Our Kids Count or to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. “Brandyn, I hold you in my heart, I will never let you go. I will carry you with me always and keep you safe for the rest of eternity. Love Mom”
