Peacefully at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Friday February 2, 2024, with her husband and daughter at her side.
Clara, beloved wife, and best friend of Sam was in her 81st year.
Proud mother of Lisa Murphy.
Born and raised in St. Catharines, Clara Cain and Sam Brownlow met when he would play back catch for her baseball team. High school sweethearts, they married in 1963 and began their life together which saw many adventures. Buying their first home, boating, waterskiing, sledding, travel and eventually finding and purchasing their cottage in the Almaguin Highlands. Life was good and eventually they recognized their dream of making Burk’s Falls their home. Clara was always busy, she worked many years at the Valumart in Burk’s Falls and enjoyed all the people she met there, she loved her home, her gardens, her beloved Zoey dog, The Blue Jays (rarely missing a game) and her friends. Their frequent get togethers were always a highlight.
Clara survived lung cancer and fought hard as her lung disease progressed over the years. Her determination and dedication to her family is what got her through.
The family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Dempster Chapel, 210 Ontario Street in Burk’s Falls on Tuesday February 6, 2024 from 1-3 and 6-8pm. A service to celebrate Clara’s life will be held in the chapel commencing at 11am on Wednesday February 7, 2024 with Rev. Rick Callery officiating.
Cremation will follow at Forest Lawn Crematorium in North Bay.
If desired, memorial donations to Hospice Huntsville or the Huntsville Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.
