It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Andrew Henry de Ruiter on December 13th, 2023. Andrew was a joyful, easy-going child who spent his time tinkering in the garage with his dad or riding around on various toys or the tractor at a young age. As a young boy he was affectionate and always receptive to hugs from his mom or spending time with family, a trait that lasted into adulthood. Andrew did not particularly enjoy school, but he found his calling as a hardworking young father who spent many years working at the Sundridge Foodland. As an adult, Andrew cherished time with his children, taking them out on the water, playing around the camp and gently guiding them. He enjoyed being with family and friends, always ready to lend a hand and quick to share a laugh. He found joy in playing music and tackling home improvement or mechanical projects. His life was not without challenges, but Andrew kept a positive outlook and was beginning to make some efforts to improve his situation with plans to attend truck driving school with the support of his family. We regret that we will not be able to see him thrive in his new planned chapter. Andrew’s lovable nature, generosity, and willingness to help will be greatly missed. Andrew’s memory will live in the hearts of his parents Aileen Parkes (Kevin Parkes) and Henry de Ruiter, siblings Jenny de Ruiter (Brent Fargo), Philip de Ruiter (Heather de Ruiter), Natalie de Ruiter (John Glibota) and Michelle Trinier (Perry Trinier). Forever remembered and loved by his former partners Pamela St Pierre and Natasha Sim and children Mylie de Ruiter, Andrew Jr. de Ruiter, Leighla de Ruiter, and stepchildren Bridgett Middlebrook, Harper Middlebrook, Tygh Middlebrook and Jaxon Sim. He will also be remembered fondly by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and community members.
The family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Moore Chapel, 9 Paget Street in Sundridge on Monday December 18, 2023, from 11 am to 1 pm. A service to celebrate Andrew’s life will follow in the chapel commencing at 1:00 pm with Rev. Rick Callery officiating. Spring interment in the Strong Cemetery in Sundridge. If desired, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
