It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Donald Gauvreau of Coniston at the age of 84, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side at HSN on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
Patrick was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather who loved his family above all else.
He is predeceased by his parents, Delphis and Lucia Gauvreau (née Guertin), and his siblings Tom, Aurore, Anita, Hector, Albert, Oscar, Jim, Irène, Leo, and Thérèse. He is lovingly remembered by his many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, May Gauvreau (née Davis), cherished father of Stephen Gauvreau, Rachelle Clouthier (Rick) and Leanne Désormeaux (Don). He is also survived by his Grandchildren Martin (Teagan), Yvon (Mélanie), Sébastien and Mathieu (Taylor).
A proud sheet metal worker, he started his career at age 16 and worked tirelessly in the trade across the province. He would marry his best friend and other half, a boundless love that would span 67 years. They were blessed with three children, spending much of their time at camp on Lake Nepewassi. While he was good at many things, he was the best at being a grandfather. Our beloved Pépé was a gentle presence with a wicked sense of humour. He was a patient and skilled teacher who enjoyed working in his garage and sharing his passions. He could often be found at ice level behind the goalie, cheering each of them on. His passing has left an unfillable void and will be missed dearly.
The comfort he experienced in his final years would not have been possible without the support of Dr. Mary Ellen Olsten. Our sincerest thank you for your kindness and the exceptional care you provided. We would also like to thank the dedicated team at St-Joseph Continuing Care Center for supporting his recovery and making his stay comfortable. Lastly, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the team at HSN 6th floor South—a special thank you to Cat, Julie and Rae for your compassionate care during his final moments.
