Margaret Rose Park
November 3, 2023
In loving memory of Margaret Rose Park (nee Storey) who passed away Friday, November 3rd, 2023, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of William “Bill” Park(predeceased), loving mother to James (Allison) of Sudbury, Ian (Amanda) of Thornbury. Adoring grandmother of Ashley and Chloe of Sudbury and Harper and Briar of Thornbury.
Born in Sudbury on March 3, 1936, to Margaret and John Storey (both predeceased) as the second youngest of a family of six. Predeceased by four brothers, Tom, Stan, (Mary Louise also predeceased), Ron (Marilyn) and Gord (Carol also predeceased) and sister Irene Shelswell (Oakley also predeceased). Survived by many nieces and nephews.
After many small jobs as a teenager that she always spoke fondly of, she then began her full-time career with The Bell Telephone Company in 1953. Over the course of her 39-year career with Bell she worked in several different roles within the company and made many long-lasting friendships. Margaret was extremely proud of her career with Bell and continued as a treasurer for their Pioneer Club until 2022.
Margaret was a member of the old Fairway Golf Club as well as the Sudbury Curling Club. While attending a curling bonspiel at the Sudbury Curling Club she met her future husband William “Bill” Park. They had 48 years of marriage until Bill’s passing in 2016. Throughout their life together Margaret and Bill enjoyed golfing, curling, and bowling. As a family, with their boys they spent their summers on Manitoulin Island and were members of the Mindemoya Golf Club. They took many family vacations throughout North America and Scotland.
A short time ago Margaret sold the family home after 51 years where she formed many long-standing friendships with her neighbours. Margaret recently moved to Westmount Retirement home and the family would like to thank the staff for their assistance and compassion over the short time she resided there.
“We lost our mom with a heart of gold, worth more to us than wealth untold, from earthy toil to heavenly rest, God took our mom she was one of the best.”
A small family celebration of life will take place at a later date. Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation or to Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated.
