In Loving Memory of Fiorina Folino
With heavy hearts and treasured memories, we announce the passing of Fiorina Folino, a remarkable woman whose light left us far too soon on October 30, 2024. Fiorina’s compassion knew no limits; even while bravely facing illness, she never stopped putting others first. Her laughter and generosity were a blessing to all, and her love for life was felt by everyone around her.
Fiorina was a devoted wife to Giuseppe Folino, a proud and loving mother to Antonio (Mattea) and Claudio, and a cherished Nonna to her granddaughter, Lillianna—the light of her world and source of boundless joy. Family was everything to Fiorina; she would have done anything for those she loved, and she was the backbone of her family. Her loved ones drew strength from her steady presence, and she held them together with her unwavering love and support.
In her professional life, Fiorina was a dedicated financial analyst who worked tirelessly in Ontario for companies such as Sesco, Dixon, MGM, and Blueway. Her true passion, however, lay in her advocacy for individuals with special education needs. Fiorina was a strong and dedicated voice on the Sudbury Catholic District School Board’s SEAC committee and an active advocate for Tourette syndrome awareness, especially in Northern Ontario. Her commitment to creating a more compassionate and inclusive world will leave an enduring impact on the lives she touched.
Born on April 20, 1968, in Sudbury, ON, to Nicola and Giovanna Folino, Fiorina was a devoted sister to Maria (David), Giovanni (Natasha), and Alessandro (Sarah) and a loving sister-in-law to Antonio (Rosina) and Angelina (Nicola). She was the best Zia to her nieces and nephews, both in Sudbury and Italy. Fiorina’s family, friends, and extended relatives, including many zias, zios, cousins, and dear friends, mourn her loss deeply.
Fiorina loved to travel, especially to Mexico, and took great joy in playing bocce with family and friends. Each year she organized the family’s annual bocce tournament, a cherished tradition that brought her immense joy. Her memory will forever be a source of inspiration to all who knew her, reminding us of her love, her strength, and her unshakeable dedication to her family. A gathering to celebrate her beautiful life will be held, with details shared with loved ones.
