Obituary
With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear sister Victorine “Vickie” Houben on Sunday November 19, 2023 at the age of 70 at Stratford General Hospital, with her family surrounding her.
Vickie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories. She had a heart of gold for each and every one of her family, big or small. She treated every one of her nieces and nephews with love and kindness. Family was everything to her.
Vickie enjoyed coffee and eating out with family and friends. She loved to bake delicious treats for all to enjoy, spending time at her trailer and following numerous hockey games of her many great-nephews and niece.
Vickie came to Canada at six months of age, from holland with her parents and eldest brother in February 1954. She became a hairstylist and worked in Stratford, eventually operating her own hair shop for over 30 years until retirement.
She will be dearly missed and never forgotten by her siblings, John (Annie), Lou (Kathy), late Jim (Diane), Diane (Jeff), Bob (Carolyn), all her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins in Canada and the Netherlands.
She is predeceased by her parents John and Melanie Houben, and her brother Jim.
In keeping with her wishes a private family service and burial will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Down Syndrome Association of Ontario or Easter Seals Ontario through W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford ON. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
