Sadly, Nancy Eloise Buchan (Elgie), age 71 of Stratford, passed away Friday February 16, 2024.
Born in London Ontario, daughter of the late Bruce and Hildegard (Howlett) Elgie. Nancy is survived by her husband of 49 years Douglas Kirk Buchan, proud and loving mother of Robert Bruce and John Douglas Buchan.
Nancy will be fondly remembered by her siblings Paul (Susan) Elgie and David (Adrienne) Elgie. Also, her brothers-in-law Robert (Mary) Buchan and Gordon (Jana Milo) and the Elgie and Buchan nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy attended Brescia College for Home Economics and then graduated from Fanshawe College as a Interior Designer. Nancy was the owner of The Sewing Den for 15 years in Guelph and Stratford where she wrote and taught sewing classes and was a dealer in sewing machines, sergers, fabric and notions. She also worked at Sears for 20 years until her retirement. Nancy was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 20 years.
In Keeping with Nancy’s wishes Cremation has taken place. At Nancy’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial event will take place at a future date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes or the charity of your choice through the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street. Stratford, Ontario. N5A 5T7
