Marie Anne Jones Obituary
Marie Anne Jones, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family’s presence and love on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Stratford General Hospital.
Loving wife of the late Robert Jones (2010). Dear mother of Christine Jones and Shirley (Kevin) Koch. Devoted grandma of Angela (Anton) Mahar, Chantelle (Luke) Humphrey and James Koch. Loving great grandma of Adelyn, Avery, Aidan and Aubree. Beloved sister of Clarence McCallum, Helen Ackert and Shirley Kaufman and brother-in-law Rolly Kaufman. Marie will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Also predeceased by her father George McCallum, mother Elizabeth McCallum (Sanderson), sisters-in law Olive Jones, Phyllis Pope, Agnes Jones and Barbara McCallum and brothers-in-law Arthur Pope, Douglas Jones, Gordon Jones, Lloyd Ackert and great nephew Mars Kaufman.
Marie’s passion and love of life could be seen by all who met and worked with her. She enjoyed teaching and had a very rewarding career spanning over 35 years. In Stratford she taught grades 4 and 5 at old Romeo before moving to King Lear where for several years she taught girls physical education, health and guidance, followed by geography. She became librarian in the early 80’s until her retirement. She and Bob traveled extensively with family and friends. Marie loved to spend time with her grand children and great-children, making special memories with each. Marie was a member of St James for 62 years and past President and an active member of the Anglican Church Women.
A service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held at St. James Anglican Church at 41 Mornington Street, Stratford on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Visitation at 1:30 pm will be followed by service at 2:30 pm.
According to Marie’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
