Lila Margaret Mitchell, age 92, of Stratford passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023. Born in North Easthope Township, on a farm near Topping to the late William and Vera (Lantz) Luckhardt.
Lila is survived by her husband John “Cal” Mitchell whom she married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Poole on September 26, 1959. Loving mother of Calvin Mitchell, Christine Mitchell (James). Sister of Lorne Luckhardt. Also survived by sister-in-law Marion Luckhardt and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by son Frederick Mitchell, brother Robert Luckhardt, sister-in-law Dorothy Luckhardt, Brothers-in-law Arnet and Arnold Mitchell and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred and Daisy Mitchell.
Lila loved the outdoors by helping on the family farm and creating beautiful gardens at home. She was a positive influence who never held back telling you what she thought. Past times included baking, especially at Christmas, traveling, crocheting and ceramics.
A graveside service for Lila will be held at Avondale Cemetery (Section 6) on Friday, December 1, at 1:15 p.m. followed by a celebration of Lila’s life at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford from 2-3:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice through the funeral home. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
