Obituary
Jean Violet Jones, age 88, of Stratford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her residence on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Born in North Easthope Township, daughter of the late Alvin and Ruby (Jacobs) Roth. Jean was predeceased by her true love and best friend Raymond Jones, April 13, 2021 after 68 years of marriage.
Jean worked for many years at the Stratford Country Club with banquets and weddings and later working at the Festival Motor Inn until she retired. Jean always had a quick wit and humour and tremendous amount of courage.
Jean is the proud mother of Kathy (Richard) Wilker, Dennis (Marianne) Jones, and Brenda (Murray) Patterson. Much loved grandmother to Jason (Sherry) Wilker, Todd Wilker, Heather (Darryl) Gear, Melissa (Frank) Duebbers, Erin Jones (Trevor Gingerich), Stephanie (Grant) Evans, Lauren (Matt) Doughty and Cody Patterson (Erin McGuire). Great grandmother to 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Jean is survived by her siblings June McGregor, Joyce Wagler, Eileen Graham and her sister-in-law Irene Roth, the Jones family and her many nieces and nephews.
Jean’s family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Peter Brooks, the nurses and staff of Stratford General Hospital, the exceptional care from Care Partners and One Care. The words “Thank-you” aren’t adequate enough to say for the outstanding care and compassion given to mom while she was a resident of Hamlet Estates and Woodland Towers. It will never be forgotten.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation will take place. The family will hold a private graveside service, with interment in St. James Anglican Church God’s Holy Acre. Besides her husband and her parents, Jean was predeceased by grandchildren Brianne and Daniel Patterson in infancy, her mother and father-in-law Alfred and Rosella (Glabb) Jones, brothers Ken Roth, Lloyd Roth, Larry Roth and her brother-in-law Harold Brickman, Morrison McGregor, Norman Wagler, Ronald Graham and her sister-in-law Ferne Roth.
