Bernie Schmitte, age 84, of Stratford passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Born in Graven, Germany. Son of the late Emma (nee Kerpen) and Bernhard Schmitte. Beloved husband of the late Nancy (nee Kearsey) Schmitte (2014). Loved father of Karen Bell (Larry) of Stratford and Bernard Schmitte (Lilia Mabagos) of Edmonton. Dear grandfather of Alexandria Bell (Philip) and Zachary Bell (Kayla). Also survived by sister-in-law Mary Sumarak, brother-in-law Robert Kearsey (Sharon) and by his close friend Ruth Weller and family. Predeceased by his brothers Albert and Herbert Schmitte, sisters Martha Plassmann and Elizabeth Albers, brother-in-law Frank Kearsey and sister-in-law Ann Kovachevich.
Friends and family may gather at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm with Rev. Keith Reynolds officiating. Following the interment in Avondale Cemetery, a reception will be held in the W. G. Young Funeral Home Reception Centre.
