Currie, Donald James
Passed away peacefully at Campbell House Hospice – Collingwood, Ontario with family by his side on Thursday March 21, 2024 at the age of 73. Don of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Michelle Currie (née Pental) for over 49 years. Loving father of Erin (Aaron Zacher) Currie Zacher, Christopher (Alana Brown) Currie and Hayden (Allysa Abad) Currie. Cherished “Papa” of Aiden Zacher. Caring brother of the late Barry (Gail), Margaret (Dave), the late Colin (late Ellen) and the late Elizabeth (late Kevin). Don will also be missed by his sisters-in-law Cindy, the late Darlene (Richard), Suzy (late Dan), Tammy and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Michelle and her family would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to Don’s nephew Colin for all the help and support he provided.
Don Currie radiated warmth with his smile, always ready to lend a helping hand, even the shirt off his own back. A mentor to many, he cherished his family above all. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures like collecting various items, from his eclectic hats to chocolate bar wrappers; for their fragrances. Beyond his three children, his proudest achievement was maintaining sobriety for 28 years.
A celebration will be held at The Beach Club at Stonebridge, 270 River Road East, Wasaga Beach on Sunday August 11, 2024 from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Don’s family requests that you place a donation under his name to one of the following charities: Hospice Georgian Triangle – Campbell House or the Georgian Triangle Humane Society.
