Obituary of Jay Michael Johnson
Much loved son of the late Jim (2016) and Monika Johnson(2018). Predeceased by his grandmother June Johnson (2009), grandfather Jack Johnson (2011), and
brother-in-law Nick McShane (2017). Survived by his sister Jessica Wainman (Chris), nephews Gray and Weston McShane and niece Ruby McShane as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jay leaves behind his long time love, Kristen Post. Jay also leaves behind his new wife Tammi-Lynn Stevens and her daughters Rylie-Ann and Ruby Raine. Jay was a bright light from childhood onward, with an unmatched sense of adventure and curiosity. Truly happy-go-lucky, with a healthy dose of fearlessness. His magnetic personality meant many people enjoyed his company and his lighthearted approach to life which resulted in many incredible friendships throughout his lifetime. Jay touched many lives and his absence will be felt by many. Jay was raised in a prominent business family and ran the wildly popular The Lakeside bar in Port Dalhousie from 1997 to 2000. He managed many of his family’s other business interests in more recent years. It is no secret that Jay struggled from very serious and isolating addiction issues in the later part of his life. Despite efforts to overcome these issues, he was unable, and he succumbed to his addiction. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St Catharines on Wednesday, April 17th from 7-9p.m. and Thursday, April 18th from 3-5p.m. A Funeral Service for Jay will follow on Thursday at 5:30p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Cremation to follow.
