David Roy Smith, 77, of Pelham, Ontario, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023, in St. Catharines, ON. He was born on July 5, 1946, to Fletcher and Marjorie Smith. David had a fulfilling career as a Rigger and Foreman at the St. Lawrence Seaway. He dedicated his time and expertise to his work, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.
David will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Barbara, sister Kathy, stepchildren Shawn and Jody, and his precious grandchildren Mikaela, Bearick, Emily, Mavryck, and Joaquin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Marjorie Smith.
Outside of his profession, David had a zest for life. He enjoyed vacations with family and friends, creating cherished memories in destinations such as Las Vegas, San Francisco, New Orleans, Punta Cana, and of course Hawaii. He found excitement in car racing, the thrill of casinos, and was a devoted fan of the Las Vegas Raiders. David also had a passion for road trips, country music, card games, and above all, spending quality time with his family.
In accordance with David’s wishes, there will be no traditional memorial service. Instead, a private gathering of immediate family will be held to celebrate his life. Arrangements have been entrusted to Passfield Mortuary Services Inc. May his memory bring comfort and solace to those who knew and loved him.
