Haining, Donna Jean. Peacefully and unexpectedly passed away, at her home in Smithville with family by her side on Tuesday, December 3 in her 84th year.
Donna was the beloved wife of the late John Haining. Loving mother to Kevin (Wilma) Haining of Caistor Centre, Gary (Sophia) Haining of Smithville, and Joanne (Kevin) Hine of Wellandport. Proud and loving grandmother of Melissa, Tyler (Jenna), Kaitlyn (Bailey), Mike (Sonya), Kristina (Steven), Jonathan (Natasha), Christopher, Dylan (Daphne) and Nickolas.She will be missed by her Great grandchildren Myla, Ella, Carter, Keegan, Ciara, Brody, Liam, Lia and Bradley. Donna is also survived by her brother Larry Huber, sister Doris (Don) Thomson, sister-in-law Isabella Haining and was predeceased by her sister-in-law Sandra Huber.
Over the years she has been involved in the Canadian Foresters, Horticulture Society, Ladies Aid and Historical Society. When she was younger, Donna loved to spend time quilting and playing Rummoli with her neighbours.
Donna always loved to spend time with her family and always looked forward to the yearly family vacation at the cottage with everyone. Where she played Rummoli and UNO, with her children and grand children and she also taught all generations to knit & crotchet.
Since losing John many years ago Donna made new friends and enjoyed their company over coffee at Tim Hortons. She always looked forward to spending time with her friends.
Her beautiful smile will be a fond memory to her many friends and neighbours and she will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Special thank you for her wonderful neighbours over the years that have allowed her to remain in her house by herself. Without their kindness this would not have happened.
Visitation will be at Merritt Funeral Home in Smithville on Saturday, December 7 from 2 to 5 pm.
Service will take place on Monday, December 9 at the Caistor Centre Free Methodist Church at 11 am.
Donations in honour of Donna, may be made to Caistor Centre Free Methodist Church and can be made through the funeral home.
