Beverly Ann Bélanger Obituary
BEVERLY ANN (McConnell) BELANGER
January 14th, 1953 – October 14th, 2024
After a lengthy illness, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly Ann (McConnell) Bélanger. Bev was the devoted wife for 25 years of the late Daniel Bélanger who predeceased her on January 2, 2019. Bev was the loving step-mother of Steve (Josée) Bélanger and Mélanie (Stéphane) Caron and grandmother to Caleb, Gabriel, Samuel, Annabelle and Marc-André. Survived by her brother, Jim (Ruby) McConnell of Brockville, her niece Keri McConnell and great niece Maci, and her nephew Jason (Sonya) McConnell and her great nephew Jamison. Survived by Dan’s brothers and sisters, Mike (Anne) Bélanger, Gisèle (late Julien) Bourgeois, Maurice (Gail) Bélanger, Lucie (Bernard) Giroux, Robert Bélanger, Yvon (Nicole) Bélanger, late Rachel (late Andrew) Turner, Rolande Bélanger, Hélène Bélanger, Laurent (Karen) Bélanger and late Jacques (Denise) Bélanger. Predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Dorman and her father James McConnell. Family was important to Bev and she would like to give a special mention to her first cousins, Crystal (John) LeVatte, Patty (Steve) Risse, Dianne Devitt and their families as well as her predeceased aunts and uncles throughout the US.
The family would like to thank all of the help that Hélène Fournier has offered in the care and well-being of Bev. Bia was the special “second” mother to Alexandra (Syd) Jordan and Lindsay (Ryan) Brown and grandmother to Sawyer, Blake, Owen, Emmy and Tatum. She was always there for them and made a profound impact in their lives.
Bev was a life-long resident of Smiths Falls. She loved working at the Rideau Regional Centre for 30 years where she met many life-long friends and acquaintances; not to mention the love of her life, Dan.
Bev was an avid gardener who loved her green-house tours with her loving friend Lynda Landriault and spent many hours weeding and tending her vegetable and flower beds. She always kept herself occupied with numerous hobbies, golfing, crocheting, reading, painting, and gardening. She loved going through a life-time of photos to scrapbook albums for family members. She also enjoyed wintering in Florida and golfing especially with her husband, Dan. She was very thankful that Dan introduced her to golf as it became one of her favourite pastimes.
Bev had a great circle of friends and was the founding member of “The Girls” who were always there for each other. She always said that she had a good life and lived it to the fullest. Bev wanted to recognize the following people for helping her during her battle against cancer. Thank you to Mélanie, Sandy, Hélène, Lynda, Patty, Crystal, Dianne, Julie, Kimmy, Alex and Lindsay. She appreciated all of the attention and care she received from Dr. Sillick.
A private, closed, graveside service will be held for the family and “The Girls” at Hillcrest Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 95, from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Memorial donations can be made in Bev’s memory to Diabetes Canada. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home, Smiths Falls, Ontario.
