Kevin Ann O’Brien Fehr passed away on December 26, 2023, at age 75 after a short illness. She was born in Toronto in 1948 to Dr. M. Justin (Gus) O’Brien and Margaret (Peggy) Lang O’Brien. At a young age, she showed a passion for aquatics, honing her skills with family at Meech Lake before lettering in swimming at the University of Toronto, and winning the Canadian Ladies War Canoe Championship in 1965 while at Camp Ak-o-Mak.
After completing her PhD in Pharmacology at the U of T in 1977 she joined the Addiction Research Foundation (now CAMH) becoming one of Ontario’s leading researchers and educators on the health and behavioral impacts of cannabis. She went on to work with Sandoz Canada and GSK in the pharmaceutical R&D sector until her retirement in 2011, also serving as a director on boards including the AllerGen Network and the Canada Foundation for Innovation.
Kevin will be remembered by her family for her sharp mind, phenomenal garden, and exceptional family dinners (including her signature pumpkin pie). A rock of support to many friends, neighbors, and family members, she will be especially missed by her sons Markus (Vicky Kyriakou), and Stefan (Andrea Cerswell), grandchildren Mackenzie, Alex, Ellington, and Charlotte, and her Senegal parrot Yoda. She was predeceased by her husband Claudius and siblings Kelly, Michael, and Jeffrey.
For funeral arrangements, please visit her web page at Ogden Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Odette Cancer Centre or Kids in Camp would be appreciated.
