DELANEY, Joan Janet (nee Booth) 1931-2024
We are saddened to announce the passing of Joan Delaney in her 93rd year.
Predeceased by her husband Bernard Patrick Delaney after 65 years of marriage. Cherished mother of Terri (Larry) Whitely, Joe Delaney, Sandra Delaney and the late Bill Delaney. Grandmother to the late Dean Whitely, Julie (Chris) Morianti, Scott Whitely, Patrick Whitely (Bre), Amanda Wylie (Chris), Jason Delaney (Tamara Rae) and Jessica Bartholomew (Ryan). GG to Seth, Caleb, Nathan, Emma, Jack, Sabastian, Korbin, Mikayla and Liam. Daughter of late Hazel Croxall and late Charles Booth. Beloved sister of late Lois Peck, late Mary Lou (Ron) Meyer and Carol West. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mom was dedicated to her family and was a loving foster mother to many babies and children over the years as she loved children. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and knitter, cooked everything from scratch and passed the tradition down to her girls. She was a wonderful homemaker while taking in foster babies and children, then when everyone was raised went on to work outside the home. Because of Dad’s career, we were transferred every couple of years, and she fit in well meeting new people and adapting to new cities.
Mom had a wonderful sense of humor, and it didn’t take much to tickle her funny bone. She adapted well and was always upbeat in her new surroundings the last few years. Mom spent the last 4 plus years at the F.J. Davey Home where she was well cared for by her caregivers whom she also loved.
We want to thank Dr. Patterson, Dr. Apostle and all the wonderful caregivers at the F.J. Davey Home, especially Driftwood Beach 3 staff and the Activities Department, where she received the best possible attention and care. We are so grateful for the loving compassionate care that Mom received there. A special thanks to Lisa at O’Sullivan Funeral Home, where we recently had compassionate care and assistance given to us in the passing of our brother, Bill.
As per mom’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. She has requested a small social gathering of her loved ones.
If you wish, donations to a favorite charity, or local food bank would be welcome.
