It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden passing of Melissa Julia White-Vandermeer of Sarnia, Ontario at the young age of 49. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend Dan Vandermeer and their daughters Emma and Faith Vandermeer. Melissa was the devoted daughter of Mike and Julie (2022) White. She will be missed by her adoring sister Michelle (Scott) Parks. Devoted and treasured Auntie M to Sammi Jo and Nicholas Parks. She will be remembered by her aunts, uncles, and cousins, including her cousin who was like a sister, Robin Neilly. She will be missed by her partner in crime and lifelong friend Kerri Hill of 34 years, along with her many other friends she has met throughout her life. Melissa was a long time employee of Goodwill Industries. She was passionate about her job as well as the staff and clients. She was a strong advocate for her clients she worked with. In her younger years, she was an avid fastball player and a volunteer for the Sarnia Sting Booster Club. One of her favorite things to watch was Little League World Series each year. There will be a visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and Celebration of Melissa’s Life at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. She will be buried at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Goodwill Industries or St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
The thought of her reunion with mom, who she missed so much, brings us comfort during this time.
