Obituary of Dorothy Ellis
Ellis: Dorothy (née Trumble)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ellis at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on June 24, 2024 at the age of 102.
She was the beloved wife of Thomas ‘Oscar’ Ellis (1963) and loving mother to Thomas Harry Ellis (2021).
Dorothy was a loving grandmother to Granddaughter, Megan (T.J.) Woodward of Bright’s Grove, and her two Grandsons, Tom Ellis (Sue) of London, Robert Ellis (Suzanne) of Tecumseh. She was a proud Great-Grandmother to Elliott and Allison Woodward, Ben, Cooper, and Declan Ellis
Forever missed by her Brother, Gerald Trumble of Oshawa, and Daughter-in-law, Karen Ellis of Chatham.
Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Mary (née Sararas) Trumble, Sisters Violet, Mary, Irene, and Verna.
Dorothy was a remarkable woman who left a beautiful legacy through the love of her family. She was a gentle breeze always nurturing her family like a garden, she stitched memories together like a quilt. Her resilience and quiet grace spoke volumes without using a single word. On any occasion, Dorothy’s butter tarts and cherry cheesecake were a hit. Her card-playing prowess brought joy and camaraderie to gatherings, creating memories full of laughter and friendly competition.
A Private Family Service will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Donations made in memory of Dorothy to the Ronald McDonald House or Sick Kids Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
