John Ward, 73 years, of Oil Springs died peacefully at Bear Creek Terrace, Petrolia on Thursday, September 26, 2024. John was the son of the late Jim (2009) and Donna (2011) Ward. John was the brother of Richard (Joan) Ward and Bonnie Hannaford, he was predeceased by a brother Larry Ward (1999) and a sister Betty Lou (the late Steve (2020)) McCormick (2014). He will also be missed by his nieces nephews Tania McComick, Craig McCormick, Daryl (Nicole) Ward, Lindsay Ward, James Hannaford, and Ross (Crystal) Hannaford, and many great nieces and nephews. John was a dedicated resident of Oil Springs, coaching and maintaining baseball for many years as well as dedicated member of the Oil Springs Optimist Club. His commitment to Oil Springs was recognized when the local baseball diamond was renamed John Ward Park. He was also an avid gardener who loved giving away what grew.
A private graveside will be held at Oil Springs Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Sarnia & District Humane Society (www.sarniahumanesociety.com).
