Thompson, Robert Stewart (Bob) passed away peacefully at PRHC on October 16, 2023 in his 81st year.
Born on May 21, 1943 in Sweetsburg, QC to Stewart and Gladys Thompson; Bob relocated with his parents to Peterborough, ON in 1945.
Survived by his sister, Carol (Peter) Pearson of Peterborough, ON and his children, Andrea (Roger) Thompson of Keene, ON, Kimberly (Kevin) Dugay of Moncton, NB, James (Kim) Thompson of St. Catharines, ON and proud Papa to his grandchildren Jacob, Alyssa, Paige, Kinsey and Oliver.
Bob was an avid sports fan and car enthusiast. In his younger years he could
be found covering the hockey net or ball field like a “Blanket”, chasing the cup at the Peterborough Speedway or playing pool tournaments across Canada and the US.
Bob retired from Trent University in 2004 after 38 years of service. In his later years, Bob enjoyed riding his motorcycle or driving his vet, particularly during his winters in Arizona.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Bob’s family will be hosting a Memorial Reception on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 6-8 PM at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough.
Bob lived his life to the fullest and expressed a desire for those who knew him to remember him full of life and ready for a good laugh.
