Mel (Melvyn Douglas) Jackson of Richmond Hill, Ontario
August 20th 1940 – March 30th 2024
Passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill at the age of 83 after a courageous battle.
Mel was the loving husband of Margaret. Devoted son to the late Horace and Ruby Jackson. Loving father to Tim (Sylvia) and Tracy (Paul). Papa to Emma-Rae, Madison, Grace, Reilly, and Lauren. Dear brother to Robert (Jane), Judy (the late Paul), and Ron (Hilary). Mel will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews, and his friends.
He was a gentle soul who loved gardening and the outdoors. His garden could supply an entire neighbourhood. Tory Hill held a special place in his heart, whether fishing, hunting or helping in the sugar shack. His innovative mind allowed him to build anything he could imagine and he kept inventory “in stock” for the next project.
As per Mel’s wishes, no funeral service will take place but there will be a Celebration of Life scheduled at a later date.
Mel’s family would like to thank all of the hospital staff from the Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill, who took care of Mel, with a special thank you to Amir with Home and Community Care Support Services.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
