David Patterson Simpson passed quietly in his sleep in Peterborough on October 29th, 2023, at the age of 88. He was predeceased by his Scottish parents John and Jean; his siblings Jean and John and the love of his life Peggy, to whom he was married for 50 wonderful years.
He is survived by his children, Nancy, Karen (Tim), Bruce (Janet), his loving grandchildren Taylor, Hannah, Caitlyn, Katrina, Hillary and David. He was an amazing GG Pa to great grandchildren Nesta, Lennox and Peyton.
He enjoyed a successful 39 year career at James Richardson and Sons Ltd before retiring in his 50’s to enjoy life and travel with Peg. They found their piece of paradise in beautiful Sarasota, Florida where they spent winters, only to come home to their other oasis on Lake Chemong in Peterborough. He was fortunate to find a loving partner in Dianne whom he continued to enjoy the best of both worlds and having fun in the sun.
Dave was a sportsman through and through, playing baseball and hockey in his younger days and later golf, tennis, squash, and pickleball. When he couldn’t play himself, he loved watching the Blue Jays, Maple Leafs and APT Tennis.
Friends and family are welcome to join us at 1pm on Friday November 3rd, 2023 at Ashburnham Funeral Home, Peterborough to celebrate his life! Light refreshments to follow.
Donations in lieu of flowers would be appreciated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
