Patricia Lynn Huschilt
Saturday, April 6, 1963 – Friday, November 1, 2024
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the sudden loss of our dear sister Patricia (Patty) Lynn Huschilt, who left us at the age of 61. Patty is lovingly remembered by her mother, Patty Huschilt and reunites in peaceful rest with her late father, Dr. Nicholaus Huschilt. A beloved sister to Paul (Julie), Mark, Margot (Darren), Kevin (Lori), and Nicole (John). Patty also leaves behind her thirteen adored nieces and nephews: Madeline (Daniel), Natalie (Breyane), Hayden (Rachel), Alex, Lauren (Michael), Abigail, Danielle, Charlotte, Dean, Kalista, Holly, Paul, and Justin, as well as her cherished great-nieces and nephews. Patty also leaves behind a large and loving extended family.
Patty was born in Hamilton, Ontario, spent her first year in Parry Sound, grew up in Hagersville, moved to Burlington, and finally settled in Kitchener, Ontario. It was in Hagersville that she discovered her passion for figure skating, a love that she carried throughout her life. Patty pursued this passion through competitive skating, excelling in Juvenile Ice Dance, Junior Synchronized Skating, and Interpretive Skating. She carried this same creative spirit into her coaching, encouraging her skaters to embrace a lifelong enthusiasm for learning. After graduating from Sheridan College with a diploma in Graphic Design and Computer Graphics, Patty worked for many years at an insurance firm in Kitchener, Ontario, handling all graphic design needs, from brochures to visual branding. Her career allowed her to blend her artistic flair with her professional work. Patty’s love for skating continued as she became a devoted coach for over 30 years, most recently with the Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club. She found pure joy in teaching children and adults, sharing her love for the sport, and watching them thrive on the ice.
Patty was incredibly selfless, always putting others before herself, and would do anything for her family. She was a joyful and comforting presence for so many, offering support, love, and a shoulder to lean on whenever it was needed. Patty was known for her fun-loving spirit and her love for celebrations, she cherished time with family. Her nurturing character extended to her two beloved cats, Russia and Capo, who brought her endless happiness. She adored accessories, especially hats, and was rarely without them. Her passion for creativity extended to all forms of art including; crafts, jewelry, music, graphic design, concerts, fashion, dance, and skating. Her attention to detail was exceptional; she never missed a birthday, always took time to celebrate others’ accomplishments, and was known for her thoughtful, handwritten cards and heartfelt messages. She loved sharing stories, reminiscing, and ensuring that every family reunion was filled with happiness.
Patty was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed picnics, camping trips with friends, visits to Port Dover, Grand Bend, and the family cottages at Mink Lake, Ontario, and Pigeon Lake, Alberta. Her curiosity and dedication also made her the family historian. She meticulously researched their history, tracing family roots back to the 1800s and preserving cherished memories through photos and stories for future generations.
Patty will be dearly missed by family, friends, her skating community, and the countless lives she enriched with her kindness and vibrant spirit. May she rest in peace.
